COVID-19 Activity in Ontario: Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table Dashboard Indicator Roadmap

As of September 8, 2022, the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table Dashboard is no longer updated in an effort to streamline the ongoing collection, analysis and reporting of provincial COVID-19 data in Ontario. Public Health Ontario (PHO) will continue providing important surveillance data on COVID-19 activity in Ontario, aligned with its mandate for provincial infectious disease surveillance reporting.

This page outlines where you can find important COVID-19 data in PHO’s resources that were previously available in the Dashboard.

To access the COVID-19 data and surveillance reports and tools, visit PHO’s COVID-19 Data and Surveillance webpage.

Retired Indicators

The following table outlines indicators that are no longer being reported and background on why they have been retired.

Science Advisory Table Dashboard Element & Indicators Rationale for Retiring

Effective Reproduction Number R(t) in Ontario

After December 23, 2021, reproduction number cannot be estimated accurately due to changes in provincial testing requirements.

Number of PHUs With Exponential Growth

To create this graph the Table used the R(t) information, which can no longer be calculated reliably as currently noted in the Dashboard. Similar to this indicator, PHO does comment on the number of public health units with increasing/ decreasing weekly rates in the highlights section of its COVID-19 in Ontario Weekly Epidemiological Summary.

Oxford Stringency Index and Mobility in Ontario

Mobility measures are less relevant when there are no current or foreseeable restrictions on people’s movement via lockdowns or other public health measures. Apple no longer provides public data. PHO will assess data sources and methods to prepare for potential future need if new public health measures are put in place.
